The Lower Permian fossillagerstätte Bromacker in the Thuringian Forest near Gotha is well known for its diverse tetrapod fauna and well-preserved trackways. The locality is considered one of the first terrestrial vertebrate ecosystems world-wide and yields spectacular articulated fossils preserved in fine sandstones and shales.

We, the Foundation Friedenstein Castle/Museum of Nature Gotha and the Museum of Natural History Berlin, will likely start a large-scale excavation beginning in 2017.

I will update this page as soon as more information is available.

You are welcome to apply with a letter of interest and your CV. I will put your name on the list of potential candidates and will contact you as soon as possible. Please note that future excavations may be announced on short notice.
